Habitat for Humanity Red Deer launches a new Critical Repairs Program for Central Alberta Homeowners.

Red Deer, Alberta, September 18, 2024: Habitat for Humanity Red Deer is excited to announce the launch of its new Critical Repairs Program, which will support lower-income Central Albertan homeowners by repairing critical health & safety issues in their homes.

Habitat CEO, Karen Vavrek, explains the purpose of the new program. “By assisting homeowners with lower incomes to resolve serious structural, health and safety deficiencies or accessibility modifications, Habitat Red Deer will enable families and individuals to remain safely housed while improving older housing assets and helping people age in place. We will focus on helping homeowners who don’t have other financial options to complete serious home repairs.”

Habitat Red Deer will complete the repairs, working alongside qualified local trade partners and companies. By providing critical repairs to homeowners, Habitat Red Deer is not just fixing immediate issues but also ensuring a positive future for Central Albertans. This program will extend the livability of existing homes, allowing more individuals and families to have a safe and decent place to live.

The Critical Repairs Program will launch on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Community Information Sessions are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. An in-person Information session will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church (38105, Range Rd 275, Red Deer). The information sessions will provide general information about the program, including homeowner eligibility and the application process. Attendees only need to attend one of the three sessions.

Homeowners interested in applying to the program, community organizations or companies interested in learning more about becoming a trade partner or program supporter, can attend one of the free sessions.  (As this program aims to serve new families and individuals in need, current Habitat homeowners are not eligible to apply).
