We are happy to be celebrating National Volunteer Week by highlighting some of our amazing volunteers and accomplishments! In 2023, Habitat Red Deer had the support of 305 individual volunteers; these volunteers gave 4,952 hours! On our build site, we have 182 individuals put on a hard hat and get their hands dirty, helping us with the completion of Aspen Lakes Blackfalds and the beginning of Red Deer Evergreen. We also have a fantastic Board of Directors who always step up! In 2023, they gave a collective 515 hours! We are so lucky to have the support of our community; we wouldn't be able to do all we do without the support of volunteers like you! We appreciate everything you do!
We are sharing the experiences of some of our volunteers, starting with Amanda.
Amanda volunteered in September of 2023 as part of a teamBUILD day. Her group worked on building walls and framing one of our Red Deer Evergreen homes. This was not Amanda's first teamBUILD and we hope it will not be her last! She was a huge help on-site as a leader for her group. Thanks so much to Amanda and all the volunteers from the Servus Wealth Strategies Team!
"Organized, safe, fun and inspirational! Our team enjoyed the experience so much in the first year and second year, we expect to be back for many years to come. What a privilege it was to take time in our day to contribute to a new home in Evergreen. Not only did we gain new skills in construction, we were motivated by the stories shared by the future homeowners and that of the Habitat Red Deer organization. The day was very well planned out, keeping our many hands busy and working hard. Seeing teamwork on display in new ways was the highlight of our day when we were able to literally see walls come up on the main floor. I highly recommend supporting Habitat with a Team Build of your own. Gather your friends, family or colleagues for a rewarding day, contributing in a meaningful way to families in our communities."
