The Vasquez Herrera Family
Family is the best team you can have!
We would like to introduce you to the Vasquez Herrera Family, future homeowners in Blackfalds. Meet Diana, Roberto and their three children, Jonathan, Carlos and Wilfredo.
The Vasquez Herrera Family is originally from El Salvador. Diana and Roberto immigrated to Red Deer in the mid-2000s. Roberto works as a mechanic, and Diana is a healthcare aide.
Diana and Roberto are loving, hardworking parents. They are active members in their church and community, known by many to be quick to help those in need. Their children, Jonathan, Carlos, and Wilfredo, are described by their parents as caring, loving, and supportive. They are passionate about music and enjoy learning and playing new songs on the guitar, piano, and drums. They also enjoy being active and spending their free time playing basketball. Wilfredo, their youngest son, also enjoys playing soccer. The family has an additional member, a small Shih Tzu dog named ès muñeco or doll in English.
In the warm months, the family loves to go camping together. During the Christmas season, they love to meet at grandma’s house to share gifts and spend quality time together.
The Vasquez Herrera Family is deeply grateful to be accepted into the Affordable Homeownership Program. Having rented in Red Deer for many years now, they have had to move five times due to rising rent, unsafe environments, and cramped living spaces. This has been stressful for the family. Diana and Roberto shared that renting and moving was hard for their children, who often asked for a bit more space. Jonathan, Carlos, and Wilfredo are very excited to have a yard and more space to play in their new home.
The family is filled with excitement about their new home. They feel that the Affordable Homeownership Program has given them a new opportunity. They shared that they were nervous during the application process but kept up their hope and faith they would be accepted. They are very happy to have a place to call home, knowing that it is a safe space where they can grow and prosper. Together, the family is already setting goals for the near future to make their home their own by finishing their basement and fencing their yard.
We are delighted to welcome the Vasquez Herrera Family to their next chapter as homeowners in Blackfalds.
