Habitat Red Deer to present keys to families at upcoming Home Dedication Ceremony in Blackfalds

Habitat for Humanity Red Deer will be presenting keys to their newest homeowner families in a home dedication ceremony taking place on Thursday, April 13 at 3:30 pm at 5616 Vista Trail in Blackfalds, Alberta.

This build project, consisting of two duplexes, is Phase II of affordable housing units built in the Town of Blackfalds. Since 2021, a total of 8 affordable housing units have been built in the Town of Blackfalds by Habitat Red Deer.

With an open house beginning at 3:30 PM and the Home Dedication program scheduled to commence at 4:00 PM, Habitat Red Deer will welcome donors, community partners, and special guests including MLA Ron Orr, Leland Corbett from Habitat for Humanity Canada’s National Board of Directors, and more. The Home Dedication Ceremony is the most special and significant event at the conclusion of a Habitat home build, a time where we celebrate the support, dedication, and hard work of our donors, volunteers, community partners, and homeowner families.

“After 11 months of building, we are thrilled to be welcoming 4 new homeowner families as the newest Blackfalds residents! Each family has contributed 500 volunteer hours as part of their partnership commitment, working alongside more than 250 volunteers over the course of this build. We are so grateful for the tremendous support from our dedicated donors and partners to help make these families’ dreams of homeownership become reality!”, notes Karen Vavrek, Habitat for Humanity Red Deer CEO.

We recognize that the land on which we work, gather, and live is within the territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina, and Stoney Nakoda peoples and that the Central Alberta region we serve falls under Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree, and Saulteaux territory. We acknowledge and honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial. We stand with the Indigenous peoples of Alberta and continue to advocate for reconciliation.
